Drivers & Licenses

All drivers must be at least 25 years of age with a valid driver’s license. We complete a DMV check on all drivers to ensure you meet minimum requirements.  International drivers need an International Driver’s Permit (IDP) and current passport. Insurance is required for rental and must be purchased through Wonderland Expeditions or may be acquired via a binder on your own personal insurance.


Vehicle Restrictions

Our vehicles may be used on dirt roads and backcountry trails, BUT ARE NOT to be used for serious "rock-crawling" or in designated  off-road vehicle parks. They are also NOT allowed to be driven in soft sand, salt or brackish water. The use of our vehicles in these applications and settings is strictly PROHIBITED and you will be liable for any and all damages to the vehicle, tires, and additional equipment, at Wonderland Expeditions' discretion. Additional fees related to misuse and abuse will be determined at our discretion. Towing charges and any additional expenses resulting from breakdown or accident will also be your responsibility. Travel within the US and Canada is permitted. Travel into Mexico is currently prohibited. The consumption of alcohol or intoxicants while operating any vehicle is prohibited. NO climbing on the roof or hood of vehicle for Instagram photos, or any other reason. 


Reservation Deposit & Payment

A reservation deposit of 50% of the total rental is required to secure your booking. Full payment of the remaining rental balance and the security deposit (see below) is required one day prior to pick-up. We accept credit and debit cards for rental charges and purchase must be made through our website. 

Security Deposit

You will be charged a $1000 - $2500 (depending on vehicle) security deposit with your final payment the day before your scheduled pick-up. This amount is equal to the insurance deductible. Your deposit will be returned - minus any damages, mileage overages and additional fees - within seven days after the vehicle is returned.

In the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle that requires an insurance claim, your security deposit will be used as the deductible for the insurance claim, which is 2% of the replacement cost of the vehicle. If the resulting damage is less than the deductible, the security deposit will be used to cover the cost to repair damage.

Insurance does not cover interior damage, mechanical damage, administrative costs, or loss of income due to repair time. In the event that there is damage or loss of income not covered by insurance, we will use the security deposit to cover these costs, at our discretion. If the damage is greater than the security deposit, you will be billed for the excess amount.

In the event that damage to the vehicle is due to negligence on the part of the renter, insurance may deny your claim and you will be charged the full amount to cover the repairs and loss of income.

In the event that the vehicle is returned excessively dirty, we will use the security deposit to pay for additional cleaning fees. When and how much to charge for excessive uncleanliness will be determined at our discretion.



All cancellations must be submitted in writing to Wonderland Expeditions. Wonderland Expeditions reserves the right to cancel a reservation at our discretion, at which point you will receive a full refund.

- A $200 processing fee applies to cancellations over three months (90 days) prior to the pick-up date.

- Cancellations between two weeks (14 days) and three months (90 days) of pick-up will be charged the 50% deposit.

- Cancellations within two weeks of pick-up (or no show) will be charged 100% of the rental cost.

Mileage Allowance and Fees

All our rentals include 150 miles FREE per day. Additional mileage blocks of 100 miles can be purchased for $25 per 100 miles. Travel above 150 miles and/or total amount of additional pre-purchased blocks per day will be charged at $0.35/mile upon your return.


Rentals come with a full tank of gas.  Please return it full, otherwise we charge your security deposit at a rate of $5 per gallon.


Your rental will come with a full tank of propane for cooking (and heating in pop-up campers). Depending on the length of your trip, you may need to refill along the way. Training will be provided upon pickup and instructions will be included in each rental. No need to return the vehicle with a full propane tank, we'll take care of it!


Cleaning / Cosmetic Damage Fees

Rentals that come back excessively dirty (covered in mud, food remnants / stains inside) or excessively scratched from shrubs and trees from driving down too narrow of trails will be charged a minimum of $100 at our discretion for additional time spent cleaning, professional cleaning, detailing or paint repair. Damage or dirtiness from unapproved pets or pets not restricted to soft-crate or similar will result in a minimum $250 fee and will be responsible for all professional cleaning and repair costs.


Driving Fines, Tolls and Fees

If they happen on your watch, then they are yours to pay.



Smoking is NOT allowed in any part of the vehicle. 

GPS Tracking

Our vehicles come with GPS tracking. By accepting the terms of this rental you are allowing us to the track location of the vehicle at any point. This is for your safety as much as anything. However, if you are found to be speeding excessively, we reserve the right to charge a fee for excess wear and tear at our discretion. This will be taken out of your security deposit.
